The First People in Australia saw a different Australia to that of today. Australia was much colder due to the Ice Age. Large animals roamed the plains and swam in the waters. The cold climate meant the sea was much lower. People could walk over land from Papua New Guinea to Tasmania. The southern mountains of Australia were permanently covered in ice.
